Sara Matson

anxious +
she adhered
reluctant fascination
between // grandma’s
defiled magnolias
her (empire) of the dependably
theirs was an indifferent despair

creature pleasure
unscrewed from swollen
jealously // finger plucked
circus memories
sucking oil ribbons
thru sanded molars
she maintained a
pornographic appreciation of
her father’s tongue
measured plasticity like
shadow puppets
across exasperated clavicles

you insist
hallucinations hid (empty) treasure
like tentative clichés +
rude greetings in glass

imma (forgotten)
skin sewer

deprivation seems heavier each
time the stink punches the
gnats off your eyebrows

imma (watchful)

you always maintained
a (cannibal’s) grace
sight merciful //
your creamy laugh

against magnetic provocation
shattered in the ash forcefields

imma (venomous)

it’s all just
ice cold smells (freezer
burn) du jour
